Steel Containment Installation Throughout a Block of Flats
SCI was tasked with upgrading the existing 150mm x 50mm steel containment, which housed all the power cables and fire alarms supplying a block of flats. Additionally, we were required to install a separate 50mm x 50mm steel containment to house the data cables independently.
The project presented a significant challenge: removing the old containment and installing the upgraded system while maintaining the functionality of the existing power and fire alarm cables that served the properties across three floors. Alongside this, we needed to install the additional, smaller containment for the data cables on each floor, ensuring they were routed back to a central location where the data cabinet would be situated.
Given the building’s concrete floors and ceilings, we had to adopt a creative approach to run both sets of containment side by side effectively. This required meticulous planning and innovative solutions to ensure the installation was both efficient and minimally disruptive to the residents.
